MSO Officers

Message from the President

November 2011

For all of us who live in the Midwest, we know that we are so fortunate to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who are not only even-keeled, but also generous of spirit. Perhaps the fact that we endure such long, hard winters allows us the time and opportunity to reflect on those matters that really count. I personally have had the distinct pleasure of being part of an organization for the last ten years that embodies the true nature of the prairie inhabitants, the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists (MSO).

The start of my year as the president of the MSO was a bit rocky due to family issues beyond my control. I am most grateful to my predecessor, Dr. Jackie Miller, for agreeing to continue on for an additional month as president. Jackie has not only served the MSO tirelessly over the last decade, but also has contributed to the AAO on many different levels and always does so with a smile, with grace and with savoir-faire. She has been such a tremendous asset to organized orthodontics. I know I speak on behalf of the entire MSO family when I say “thank you” for all you have done for the MSO.

The coming year should be a year of tremendous excitement for the MSO. Our Annual Session will be a cruise to Alaska August 4-11, 2012. We have a tremendous line-up of Continuing Education for both doctors and staff and lots of surprises and extras. The cruise will be a trip of a life-time to share with your colleagues, staff, friends and family. Don’t miss the boat – secure your cabin now while t here is still space available! The cruise will be advertised in the Bulletin and I am sure there will be a run on cabins as soon as that issue is published.

Our Ad Interim Board meeting will be March 9-10, 2012. If you have any thoughts about issues that should be addressed by the AAO House of Delegates, be sure to contact your director or any officer.

As always, all Board Members of the MSO are available for comment and questions. The MSO is only as strong as the members who support it. If you have any concerns do not hesitate to contact me either by email (colevin@shaw.ca) or phone (204/989-5650) at your convenience.

Sincerely,
Dr. Babette Cohen
